Union Boutique in Battle Ground, Washington
My 16th mural brought me to Battle Ground, Washington, where I had the joy of creating a vibrant floral photo-op wall for a brand-new clothing boutique. In January, I received an inquiry from the owner, who was opening Union Boutique and wanted a mural that would instantly brighten the space and give customers a fun spot to take photos. She had a few special requests:
it needed to be colorful,
it needed metallic gold,
and most importantly, her dog had to be included.
I loved the vision immediately.
Because my iPad was getting a new screen at the time, I decided to design this mural the old-fashioned way: on paper. I don’t get to do that often anymore, since digital mockups are much easier to transpose onto a wall, but working by hand reminded me how much I love the tactile part of sketching. It made the design process feel fresh and creative in a different way.
Once the design was approved, I packed up my supplies and headed to Battle Ground.

The timing was tight I had exactly one week to complete the mural before catching a flight to Mexico but everything flowed perfectly. The boutique’s energy was warm and welcoming, and the mural itself was a joy to paint. Bright colors, metallic accents, whimsical florals, and of course, their adorable dog. It all came together exactly the way the owner dreamed it would.
After the mural was complete, I even had the chance to return and host a sip-and-paint night for her customers, which made the project feel even more special. I loved working with Union Boutique, and it was an honor to help bring their new space to life with a piece that celebrates color, personality, and community.
What It Taught Me
This mural taught me that not every project has to be a one-and-done client connection. Sometimes, a single mural can open the door to an ongoing relationship, one where creativity continues to flow long after the wall is finished. Working with Union Boutique showed me the value of staying open to new ways of collaborating, whether it’s designing a mural, teaching a workshop, or showing up for a community event.
Returning to host a sip-and-paint night reminded me that murals aren’t just about transforming a physical space; they can also create meaningful connections.
