True North Geotechnical

After completing The Heart of Vancouver, my name began circulating more widely, and new clients started reaching out with excitement about bringing murals into their spaces. One of those clients was the incredible team at True North Geotechnical, who invited me to create not just one, but two murals for their newly built office.

They wanted one wall to feature their logo — clean, bold, and reflective of their brand — and another wall to showcase a nature-inspired scene. At one point, they even considered adding flowers because they loved the Heart of Vancouver mural so much, but ultimately, we agreed that a more grounded, natural landscape would better fit the tone of their work and their overall aesthetic.

We spent time refining the design, going back and forth until we landed on something that felt just right: a mural that brought the outdoors in, balancing professionalism with creativity, and giving their space a sense of calm and identity.

When paint days came, everything moved seamlessly. The office wasn’t open yet, which meant I had the entire place almost completely to myself — a dream for any muralist. And because my apartment was so close, not even snow days slowed me down. I walked over, bundled up with coffee in hand, and continued painting.

One of the highlights of this project was the unexpected help I received from the owners’ two kids. They were so excited about the mural and asked if they could paint with me. Of course, I said yes. They painted for about 30 minutes before the novelty wore off, but honestly, they did a great job for those 30 minutes, and it was a sweet memory that added even more warmth to the experience.

I finished both murals just before the holidays, right on time for their grand opening. Seeing the space complete with their branding brought to life on one wall and a peaceful nature scene on the other was incredibly rewarding. It felt like the perfect blend of art and environment, helping set the tone for the company’s new chapter.

What It Taught Me

This project taught me the value of ease in the creative process, something I didn’t fully understand until this mural came along. After the wildly intense experience of The Heart of Vancouver, stepping into a project that flowed so naturally reminded me that not every mural has to be a test of endurance. Sometimes things can simply… work. And that ease can be just as meaningful and fulfilling as the challenges.

I also learned how special it is to invite others into the process. Letting the owners’ kids paint with me, even if only for a short time, brought a joy and playfulness into the room that I didn’t expect. Their energy shifted the whole space, reminding me that murals aren’t just about the final image on the wall. They’re about the moments we create while making them. Sometimes the memories attached to a mural matter just as much as the mural itself.
