Jubilee Tea House

My 9th through 12th murals were created for the beautiful Jubilee Tea House in Ridgefield, Washington. A space that feels like stepping into a dreamy world of high tea, florals, and timeless charm.

This project began back in September 2022, when I was approached by the owner, Leslie, while I was planning a mural for the Vancouver Downtown Association. She shared her vision for creating a refined, feminine tea house where people could gather, slow down, and enjoy the experience of high tea together. From the moment she described it, I knew this space was going to be something truly special.

The first mural was completed in September 2022, and soon after, Leslie invited me back to create three more in November. She wanted the artwork to blend seamlessly with the beautiful furniture, décor, and art pieces already in the space — soft tones, classic elegance, and touches of floral romance. Our goal was to bring the environment to life through murals that felt delicate and luxurious, while still warm and inviting.

Together, we designed a flowing sea of flowers that wraps through the tea house, adding depth, movement, and a sense of enchantment to every corner. Each bathroom received its own hand-painted quote as well. Small moments of inspiration and beauty that elevate the experience for every guest who walks through the doors.

These murals helped define the identity of Jubilee Tea House, creating a cohesive atmosphere that feels both intimate and timeless. It was an honor to help bring Leslie’s dream to life, transforming her space into a place where community, elegance, and joy all come together over a cup of tea.

What It Taught Me

Working on Jubilee Tea House taught me something unexpected but incredibly important: lettering is its own art form and a skill I needed to strengthen.

The hand-painted quotes in each bathroom were beautiful additions to the space, but they also revealed how challenging lettering can be when you want it to feel refined, consistent, and effortless.

I could do it, but I was slow, and I knew that if lettering was going to be a recurring part of my mural work (which it absolutely is), I needed to invest in getting better.

This project pushed me to take online classes, study different styles, and spend extra time practicing in my studio. It became the spark that made me treat lettering with the same respect and intention as the rest of my mural practice.

Jubilee Tea House didn’t just help me grow creatively, it helped me grow technically.
