The Salmon Creek Mural Project

The Salmon Creek Mural Project is a first-of-its-kind community art initiative in Clark County, designed to celebrate our waterways, local wildlife, and the creativity of our community.

Sparked by community member Vicki Holman and supported by Clark County Public Works, I served as the consultant, designer, and lead painter to bring the vision to life. The large wall mural features dozens of fish, each one uniquely designed and painted by a different artist, creating a flowing scene that symbolizes life, movement, and interconnectedness.

Over 50 artists and volunteers came together to transform the wall, from professional painters to first-time muralists. This collaboration made the mural truly “a project for the community, by the community.”

Volunteers paint the fish and support the project across multiple weekends, and the mural was finished with a protective anti-graffiti coating to ensure it will last for years to come. The result is more than a wall of fish—it’s a symbol of pride, stewardship, and unity that sets the stage for future community art projects in Vancouver.
