Uniquely You Event Space

Who knew that one sign job would lead to more sign jobs? After painting my first-ever sign for Ronald Records, word started to spread — and soon after, Uniquely You Event Space reached out looking for a fresh new sign of their own. Their existing signage no longer matched their brand, and they were ready for a makeover that felt modern, inviting, and true to who they were becoming.

What I loved about this project is that it began long before the mural itself. We started by redesigning their brand aesthetic, updating business cards to refined visual elements, so everything flowed together cohesively. Once the branding direction was locked in, we shifted into designing the mural that would serve as their new storefront sign.

I always use the word we because my process is deeply collaborative. My motto has always been: “You live with the wall, I don’t, so you deserve to get exactly what you want.”And that approach shaped every step of this project.

Once the design was finalized, the actual painting was a quick turnaround since it was a smaller sign. But small doesn’t mean simple; I poured just as much attention into the florals, details, and composition as I would on a larger mural. I can truly never get enough flowers, so this project felt like a perfect fit.

What made this mural especially meaningful was the realization of just how important signage and branding are for small businesses. A well-designed sign doesn’t just mark a location, it sets the tone, creates a first impression, and invites people into the story of the space. Getting to help Uniquely You step into their refreshed identity was a privilege, and it opened the door to many more branding-focused projects down the road.

What It Taught Me

This project taught me just how important branding really is, not only for businesses, but for the murals that support them. Working with Uniquely You showed me that a mural or a sign isn’t just decoration; it’s an extension of a brand’s identity. It sets the tone, shapes first impressions, and communicates who a business is before someone even steps through the door.

I also learned that not every client comes in with a fully formed brand, and that’s okay. Sometimes part of my role as a muralist is to help guide them toward clarity to help them see what their brand could look like, and create visuals that support that vision. This project reminded me that collaboration can go beyond the wall itself. It can include shaping color palettes, refining aesthetics, aligning tone, and helping clients step into the next chapter of their business with confidence.

Helping Uniquely You move from outdated signage to a cohesive, refreshed identity showed me that murals can be transformational. And that artists have the ability not just to paint walls, but to help businesses grow into the best version of themselves.
